Get in the Game!

2 Thumbs up for Katy Elementary School's 3rd grade production of Get in the Game! The star of the show was Laura Rowe, a 3rd grader who made her performing debut during Thursday's 2:00 and 7:00 pm sold out shows. Rowe sported a Katy Tiger 2007 Football State hat in honor of her older brother and Tiger MVP Brian Rowe. During her speaking part Rowe showed great enthusiasm and delivered her lines with ease, which was more than could be said for other cast members. Ever the team player, Rowe even memorized the lines of all her fellow actors, just in case someone forgot their lines during performances. In an interview after the show Rowe told us, "That was the most fun I've EVER had, I wish we could be doing a play all the time. I'm totally going to be in the honor choir!" So, good news for all you adoring fans, looks like this is just the beginning of Laura Rowe's stage career. A humble performer, Rowe gladly posed for pictures with adoring fans at the afterparty held at her favorite restuarant, Los Cucos.

Time for change

It's nasty and it's raining and Frank Billingsley is predicting tornadoes tonight. So I decided I needed to brighten up the blog a bit to make it more light and airy, less dark and doomy.
Things I've done today:
Prepared a 5 year old for stitches, and watched CARS with him while he got his chin sewed back together. He was really brave, and for a 5 year old everyone was impressed with how well he held still. It didn't cross anyone's minds that my preparation and teaching might have had anything to do with it, but that's ok. The kid walked out saying "I did a good job, I was really still wasn't I grandpa?"
Made it all worth it.

I worked with a family whose baby died this morning. First time I had worked with a baby who had Trisomy 18, and it was pretty sad, but all in all the family had great support and they knew the baby was in a better place. See ya in heaven baby!!
Ironically his name was Jesus, so that makes at least two of them chillin in the clouds.

In 30 minutes I'll teach a pre-birth sibling class for kids whose moms are due to deliver a baby in the next month. It's a hoot, we practice changing baby doll diapers, swaddling with blankets, then discuss what songs we might sing to the baby. Last month a little girl informed us that she'd be singing Hannah Montana songs to her baby. Miley Cyrus has no idea how important she is...
After the class I'm going to see Laura in her 3rd grade class play. You can expect a whole entire post on that within the next 24 hours. She's really excited, and so am I.
Peace out fools.

Dear Sally,

thought i'd post a few more pictures to show updates of my decorating hobby in the apt. i'm about to need another tax break check, but i've had fun shopping and finding things i love! it's been a good distraction from the stress going on in my life lately. lots of good things going on, lots of challenging things going on, just having a hard time handling the mix and feeling sane!

-thanks to my eldest brother i'm addicted to brad paisley's song Online....i've been singing it in my head for about 5 days now. thanks scott

-wish i could spend everyday on the lake. to whoever made the comment that only the girls are in my boat pictures...that's what happens when the boys make annoyed faces as i walk around with my camera. however, i do have a fun one with my big bad. enjoy

also, a good one of my dad and emmy driving the boat which i think is precious!

guess i have to include some of the water shots i got of the elder brothers last summer. scott is the clown swatting the water, and greg is the ski pro about to enter the wake.

Back to the girly pictures...
my dresser finally arrived last week so I've got all my furniture! I've also added a few things to the living areas, so there's a couple of those pictures too.

This is the view from the entry into the living room.

talk back soon, i miss you.

My favorite place in Texas

I cannot wait until it's summer!! There's something about a sunny day that makes me want to pack a bathing suit, sunglasses, some grungy clothes and run away to Lake Travis!
See, we grew up going to Gramma Rowe's houseboat as kids, and two years ago mom and dad got a houseboat that's....well.....real nice. On top of that Greg and Gina have a ski boat, which was just upgraded to a sweet wakeboarding boat. I'm super lucky to and get to reap the benefits of their purchase with rides to my favorite part of the lake...Devils Canyon.
I know it's only February, but I feel like I'm already sheding my winter shell and coming back to life with hopes of sunny summer days.
So, hello again world, it's good to be back!
Here are a few of my favorite pictures taken on said lake..

Who's the pansy that has to plug her nose when jumping off the top of the houseboat???? ME!!!!
Little Devils Canyon, AKA my favorite place to swim with Greg, Gina & Boo!!

Where is my life going???

So I warned that I may not be a very good blogger, which has proved to be the case. I can't believe how busy life has been lately, between work, moving, decorating, Felicity marathons, family time, and trying to make friends...there just aren't enough hours in the day! Anyway, just thought I'd post to let you few readers know that I'm alive. Here's a mini update on what's going on with me:
I still LOVE my 'memmy', and I get to see her this weekend!
There's also another little cutie I'm in love with, but more to come on that later.
My apartment is slowly coming together. I've made quite a few Target runs for the things I have deemed shabby 'cheap' and have really enjoyed making trips to the Shabby Chic store in Austin for Rachel Ashwell's actual shabby 'chic' stuff. You have got to come visit and feel my bedroom curtains, they're absolutely amazing!
I'm just waiting on my dresser to be delivered and my furniture will be complete...I'll post pictures of everything once that arrives.

Even though it's fun having a place of my own, I've had a few lonely days so I've stayed out in my 'crunchy' house in Fulshear for some good ole m&d time. Plus I REALLY miss having dogs!!
After Emma's most recent attempt at death we spent some rough time together. I am so grateful my parents took such good care of her since I was out of town, and we've started stating that she's like a cat with 9 lives. 3 Real almost deaths, 6 more to go until the real thing. I do love that mutt.
Here's a picture of her sad mopey face when she was sick.

And another picture of her happy face when I took her in the car today to stay at Waggin Tails for the weekend!

When I'm not in Fulshear or at the apt, I've been working and driving all over Houston for meetings. I have a big presentation on Child Life coming up for all the Katy ISD nurses. Hopefully I can talk about my job for an hour without putting them to sleep!
I've LOVED having Jenni back in Houston, it's so great to have a friend!! And I mean A friend....sad huh? We've been watching the TV show Felicity, starring Kerri Russel, Scott Speedman, Scott Foley and unfortunately the former pink power ranger. So, I leave you now with a question. For those of you who watched the show, Who would you choose, Ben or Noel?
answer in a comment :)
peace out for now...
