Latest addition...

Finally, the front room of my house has seating!!! This week while helping Brad shop for a coffee table I spied the most perfect couch, exactly like one I had been drooling over at Pottery Barn! Luckily this couch was in the clearance center, and was WAY less than the PB version, and just as comfy!!! The saleslady really made my day when she said I could have the ONE couch left in the warehouse that was new, rather than the floor model I originally saw in the clearance center!! New couch on clearance price??? YES PLEASE!! Now I have a place to sit and read while I enjoy my fancy chandelier, or a place for guests to sit and enjoy my piano playing!!

Happy Birthday Lisa!

Last weekend our good friend Lisa celebrated her 26th birthday...and we planned a surprise party to help her do it! Jenni & I made a cake, rounded up some party hats, balloons, etc and headed over to a friend's house to surprise Lisa Friday night! We convinced her to go to an Astros game, and when she returned....SURPRISE!!! We hope you had as much fun as we did Lisa, Happy Happy Birthday my friend!!!!!

Kemah!

Wednesday was a work day full of fun! Once a quarter I get together for meetings with 4 other people that have jobs similar to mine. We all work in community hospitals as the only CLS so we find that we need the support and professional development that comes from sharing our work. This week we went to our system's Southeast hospital, where my good friend Julie works! Julie was so helpful and kind to me as an intern, and was the next person after me to leave the Medical Center and start a one person program. Needless to say she and I have known each other a while! Her hospital had lots of damage from Hurricane Ike, so this was our first chance to get down there and see everything put back together! Her hospital is a lot bigger than I expected, and I got several great ideas from her that I can implement in my work, so it was a great time! Check out the cute mural she had done to make the ER kid friendly!!

After we toured the hospital we decided to have the rest of our discussions at the nearby Kemah Boardwalk! I've never been down to Kemah before so I was pretty excited to check things out!
Cute hotel that overlooks the boardwalk and the water, as well as a really cute little train that carries people around the boardwalk. With shopping, restaurants, boat tours, roller coasters and fountains to play in there's plenty to do if you have young ones!
There's a spot near the water with gumball machines full of fish food, and these fish know it! They just hang out, one on top of the other, waiting for food! Craziest fish I've ever seen!

Here we are at the Kemah entrance with Lauren, Julie, Hollie, Me & Marni! I'm blessed with some really fun and sweet co-workers, so I really enjoy the chances I have to spend time with them! Thanks for such a fun day of team building Julie!

Brad's House!

My little brother....scratch that....YOUNGER brother has bought a house!!!! AND it's it MY neighborhood!! How did I manage to get so lucky?!?! Brad closed last Friday and is pretty much moved in so I thought it was only appropriate to celebrate with dessert! I decided to work on my cake decorating skills and created this housewarming cake just for Brad!

Ok, ok so it looks nothing like the actual house, except that it's red, and it has driveway on the right side...but it's more of a resemblance than an exact liking. It sure was tasty, and we got to enjoy it with my parents Sunday night at Brad's new kitchen table!

I'm so excited to have my brother close and to have another fun place to hang out! Welcome to the hood Big Bad!!!

Backyard Photo Shoot #2

After work yesterday it was too gorgeous outside to stay inside, so I grabbed a beach towel and a book and spread out on the grass while I let the dogs run and play. They were having such a great time I decided to try and capture some of their fun on film. I didn't get a really great one of the two together, but I got a few individual shots that I just love! Enjoy!

Weekend Visitors!

I had fun with some cute little visitors today! Em, HK & Co came down for a visit and I got to have some fun with them at my house before they left town. Willow was SO happy to have two little friends who were more than willing to help dig out all her toys! Thanks for coming over guys!

Mini golf!

Recently our high school bestie Elyse was in town and we decided to introduce her to some of our church friends. We agreed the best option for a get to know you was to bust out our mad golf skills on a nearby miniature course, guys vs. girls! I'm proud to say ladies won fair and square, and we had fun doing it! We can't wait until Elyse, Josh & Avery move here in June and we can make these get-togethers a regular thing! Note- above is Lisa, below is Elyse...someone recently pointed out I have a tendency to pick friends who resemble each other...anyone else see it? I just think they're beautiful in their own unique ways!
